Isabelle Tanguay

Isabelle Tanguay (Finance Canada)

CIO

Isabelle has 28 years of experience in Information Technology (IT) in the Federal Government (GC). From the beginning of her career at the Royal Canadian Mounted Police (RCMP), Isabelle had the opportunity to hold several positions in information technology (IT), over a period of 10 years. She worked in collaboration with the Canadian Security Intelligence Services (CSIS), the Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI) and the Central Intelligence Agency (CIA).

Isabelle has touched on several areas in her career, ranging from programming to customer service, including project management for the deployment of several systems. Experimenting in various fields, she found a passion in IT security by providing better service to meet customer needs. She enjoyed working to develop a new methodology for threat and risk assessment in collaboration with the Communications Security Center (CSE). She also taught this methodology in evening classes at the Cité Collégiale in Ottawa.

Over the years, she has carried out internal audits, which led her to specialize in identity and access management. She has led large IT security portfolios. This responsibility included the management of teams, contracts, finances and collection services. She has carried out large-scale projects that have improved efficiency and saved considerable sums of money.

Her experience leading the team responsible for operational performance reporting for Shared Service Canada (SSC) has allowed her to understand the importance and usefulness of these reports. She was responsible for the infrastructure, operations, project management & monitoring and IT security teams at Library and Archives Canada. She has received a lot of recognition for projects she has done that have made a big difference, including setting up a secret network and developing new secure cloud environments.

Isabelle and currently the Chief Information Officer for Finance Canada. She is responsible for digital transformation and is an active participant in the various working groups on this subject.
